At PM 10:00 of July 13th 2001, "The Games of the 29th Olympiad in 2008 are awarded to the city of Beijing." Said Mr.Samaranch , the Chairman of International Olympics Committee. 1.3 billion Chinese went crazy.


With Chinese wisdom woven, the National Stadium "Bird Nest" is a great architectural work praised as the "Fourth Generation Stadium" in the world. It is one of the most innovative structures in the world. It is awarded as the world's top ten architectural miracles. It is the most favorable project design chosen from top design companies of 13 countries. It is where the 2008 Olympic Games' opening and closing ceremony are held and holds up to 91000 spectators The "Bird Nest" has a building area of 258 thousand square meters and thus can coordinate 91000 audiences to enjoy performances and games. As the main stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, it attracts the focus of the whole world.


In July 2005, the bid invitation for the "Bird Nest" audio project was contended for global manufacturers. By rapidly establishing excellent teams and adopting the state-of-the-art techniques and most mature products, LAX competed with 16 strong international acoustics groups for winning the bid.
Aiming at such problems as the domes, steel structures, large span of the "Bird Nest", etc., LAX established the optimal design scheme for each aspect with rich experiences.


"to ensure the audience at each location in the stadium can hear the standard and clear voice to the same extent, we have equipped the "Bird Nest" with 236 OP4922L linear array loudspeakers, which are maximum in amount in the world."After giving a detailed research and analysis to the Bird Nest's internal structure, LAX divided the 236 white master sound reinforcement boxes into 24 groups, which were respectively pointed to the auditorium and competition area. Depending upon the sound reinforcement requirements, each group consisted of 4 to 14 boxes, which were separately arranged around the domes of the "Bird Nest".


For this reason, LAX will apply an enduring reinforcement treatment to all audio equipment for the special outdoor servicing conditions for the "Bird Nest". Thus, the audio equipment can completely resist corrosions due to outdoor use for years and is more enduring; thereby ensuring the consistent and excellent servicing effects can be maintained in the long-term use during the Olympic Games and after the games.


Also, the acoustics equipments' safety and reliability are also important. Therefore, LAX designed 7G bearing capacities sufficient to ensure 91000 on-site audiences' safety. This hoisting system has the capability of bearing 48t equipment, and is equipped with more than two thousand safety connection bolt points and over one thousand parts for connection and fixation of sound boxes.


LAX further selected a set of the most advanced and safest audio control system in the world so as to solve the fault-tolerance problem. Not only can four set of independent fiber lines equipped meet the demands for global relay broadcasting, but also the system can be automatically switched to the standby system within one second in case of main line system fault, thereby ensuring the acoustic equipment for the Olympic Games functions absolutely safe for sure.In October 2006, the bidding for the National Stadium Sound Reinforcement System went into the final hottest stage after six rounds of selection and comparison competitions, with two international companies and a Chinese promoted.Finally,LAX won the bid with a safe, reliable and perfect design scheme. On December 8th 2006, LAX INTERNATIONAL GROUP LIMITED signed the Supplier Agreement for the National Stadium with National Stadium Co., Ltd. From then on, LAX and the Bird Nest were written in the same sentence in the history.


After the acceptance of bid, optimal acoustic effects were achieved after repeated loudspeaker test and production commissioning and the acoustic equipment went into the actual installation stage after production test, packaging and shipping. However, the non-standard structure of the Bird Nest made the installation very difficult.


(The installation technician says):"The hoisting of sound boxes shall take the structural mechanics, installation locations, hoisting convenience and structural beautifulness. In addition, structural members of the membrane structure are intricate and complicated and thus will collide with the hoisting points."To solve a range of hoisting technique problems, the LAX technical teams adopted SOLIDWORKS, which is one of the internationally most advanced 3D design software, to establish the hoisting design scheme. At PM 13:00 of January 22nd 2008, as 3 groups of LAX linear array sound boxes for auditorium rose slowly, the sound box hoisting works for the "Bird Nest" getting most of the attention were actually completed.


Meanwhile, the sound reinforcement computer room for the "Bird Nest" went into the post-phase works performance stage and the works of the systems' more than 20 thousand input and output ports connected with all equipment and over one thousand fiber splicing nodes were also performed intensively.The installation of the audio system for the "Bird Nest" has been already completed, and various performance indexes all met the expected designed requirements after commissioning.


On April 18th 2008, the National Stadium was open to the society for the first time. In the "Good Luck Beijing" trials, LAX gave a successful initial acoustic test show in the "Bird Nest".Besides the "Bird Nest", LAX professional acoustic equipment was applied to other international stadiums, including the National Olympic Sports Center, Olympic Green Hockey Field, Olympic Green Archery Field and Laoshan Bicycle Moto (BMX) Venue and Wukesong Baseball Field.


At the night becoming the focus of the world, perfect singing pealed out over the "Bird Nest" and the superexcellent acoustics shocked the people.Together with China, LAX professional acoustic equipment made the whole world surprised and moved in the fantastic Olympic Games and let the global audiences share the beauty of harmoniousness of the "Global Village".
