Sunnans' Concert, China Pop Singer

LAX recently supplied a substantial sound reinforcement system for a Beijing concert by the Chinese superstar Sun Nan, marking the singer's 1,500th live performance as well as the launch of his world tour. The event took place at the 18,000-capacity National Indoor Stadium.

Sun Nan is a veteran of the Chinese music industry having released his first album, Curved Moon, in 1990. He came to prominence internationally partly thanks to his high profile involvement in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, when he performed alongside Coco Lee for the song Forever Friends. For his current 20-date tour he is playing concerts across China and elsewhere including Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang, Chengdu, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and even the UK.

For the Beijing concert, LAX supplied 48 dual 12-inch curved line array elements to deliver front of house, plus 16 dual 8-inch curved speakers and 32 dual 18-inch subwoofers. The system was driven by 40 LAX MT1300 amplifiers alongside eight Lake LM26 loudspeaker processors.

Also in use were two Soundcraft Vi6 digital consoles for mixing front of house and monitors respectively, while Shure wireless systems were deployed on stage alongside DPA's 4008-F headband microphone.
